Sustainability in the Apparel Industry: Product Diversification

Bangladesh Apparel Industry makes a significant contribution to the national economy by creating generous employment opportunities especially innumerable uneducated women of the country and reducing poverty through socio-economic development. 20 million people depend on this industry and 10 million are directly and/or indirectly are employed through this sector. This sector is helping people by changing their lives and living standards. Bangladesh is the world’s second-largest Readymade Garment (RMG) exporter, just behind China. Country’s 84% of exports come from the RMG sector, and the Textile & Apparel sector contributes around 20% to Bangladesh’s GDP. Industrial Attachment । Textile Jobs

Textile Engineering is one of the demanding subjects in Bangladesh. There is a huge employment opportunity in this field. Accordingly, the number of Textile Engineering students is increasing exponentially. There are so many Textile Education İnstitutes including universities, colleges, diploma & vocational institutes in the country with a view to meeting this increasing demand. Students have great opportunities for industry visiting and industrial attachment as part of the academic curriculum. Students usually visit the industry in every semester but industrial attachment while at the last year/semester (Level-4). The factories generally chosen/focused are Spinning factories, Knitting factories, Weaving factories, Dyeing factories and Garments & washing plants.

BCS (Textile) । বিসিএস (টেক্সটাইল)


জাতীয় অর্থনীতিতে বাংলাদেশের বস্ত্র ও তৈরি পোশাক ইন্ডাস্ট্রির উল্লেখযোগ্য অবদান রয়েছে। এই ইন্ডাস্ট্রি প্রায় ৫ মিলিয়ন লোকের কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ তৈরি করছে, যার মধ্যে প্রায় ৮০% ই নারী (যাদের অধিকাংশই অশিক্ষিত কিংবা স্বল্প শিক্ষিত) এবং এতে করে আর্থ-সামাজিক উন্নয়নের মাধ্যমে দারিদ্র্য হ্রাস করে জাতীয় অর্থনীতিতে উল্লেখযোগ্য অবদান রেখেই চলেছে এই খাত। তাছাড়া এই ইন্ডাস্ট্রির উপর নির্ভর করেই গড়ে উঠেছে আরো ছোট বড় নানান ধরনের ব্যবসা এবং এসব ব্যবসাও অনেক মানুষের কর্মসংস্থান করছে। তৈরি পোশাক রপ্তানিতে বাংলাদেশ ইতিমধ্যে বিশ্ব বাজারে নিজেদের শক্ত অবস্থান নিশ্চিত করে অনেকটা দাপটের সাথেই ব্যবসা করে আসছে। বর্তমানে তৈরি পোশাক রপ্তানিকারক দেশ হিসেবে বাংলাদেশ বিশ্বে ২য় স্থানে অবস্থান করছে, ঠিক চীনের পরেই। দেশের মোট রপ্তানি আয়ের প্রায় ৮৪% -ই আসে এই বস্ত্র ও তৈরি পোশাক খাত থেকে, যা কিনা দেশের জিডিপি (GDP) এর প্রায় ২০%। আপনারা ইতিমধ্যেই জানেন যে, ২০২১ সালের মধ্যে বাংলাদেশ মধ্যম আয়ের দেশের মর্যাদা পাওয়ার পরিকল্পনা করেছে এবং এই বস্ত্র ও তৈরি পোশাক খাতই হবে তার মূল চালিকা শক্তি।

Why Textile Graduates shifting abroad!!!

We all know about the prospects of textile engineering in Bangladesh. It is quite blooming as compared to other disciplines. Students just after completing their academic lives can start their job career. This is undoubtedly noteworthy from the employment point of view. Bangladesh Textile and RMG industry employs almost 5 million people and serving greatly to the national economy. Job facilities like salary, salary increment, accommodation, festival bonus and so on are also very satisfactory. Despite this, textile graduates want to go abroad lately. Every year a pretty good number of textile students are going abroad for higher studies and settle themselves there. After completing the higher education they usually do not (or do not want to) come back to the country. Now a big question has been raised: why they are shifting abroad?
